t’s been a long journey, but we’re excited to share that in the spring of 2023, Workscape is finally moving into our new space on the South Side. Our new (but also old) property at 2912 East Carson Street has been home to many ventures over the years, including J&L Steel Works and the Monongahela Railway. More recently, the building was the home of Pittsburgh’s Sokol Club. As the Sokol Club, it hosted bingo nights, weddings, boxing matches and more. We’re proud of our building’s rich history and hope to continue it as our new home.
We’ve been in Pittsburgh’s West End for the last 27 years, and this move is a poignant moment in our company’s history. We’re sad to leave behind our West End friends and locales, but we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to explore a new neighborhood. “I am excited to be in a walkable part of the city with lots of great local restaurants and amenities nearby,” said Workscape Interior Designer, Miv Laschon. “I am looking forward to walking over to the riverside on a warm breezy day,” she mused. Anyways, we won’t be going very far. It’s just a quick hop, skip and a jump down Carson Street to get to 2912 East Carson (an area also known as ‘the Flats’ amongst Pittsburgher’s).
There are plenty of perks to our new location besides being in a new part of the city. Workscape’s new space will be the best-in-market showroom for MillerKnoll, DIRTT and more. “I’m super excited to be in a space showcasing both iconic brands working together, and to see what our talented designers have brought to life!” exclaimed Workscape Project Coordinator, Katie Lucero. Our in-house design team has been working hard for many months and everyone is eager to seeing the finished product. “I’m looking forward to our beautiful new showroom, where we were able to create beautiful vignettes with lots of color and texture,” commented Miv. “We were able to incorporate classic, as well new trends, to showcase how our solutions will work across different industries, from a startup, to an established university.”
The new showroom will feature many well-known MillerKnoll pieces of furniture, many nods to Pittsburgh’s history, and the best that DIRTT has to offer. “I’m happy to have a new space that better showcases the full range of DIRTT’s capabilities,” commented Construkt Project Manager, Mike Passarelli. We will have a Timber Mezzanine, raised flooring and more unique features that will come together and really make an impact. “Being able to show the full range of finishes and wall styles will help everyone understand just what DIRTT can really do!” explained Mike.
We’ve barely even scratched the surface with what lies ahead for Workscape’s new showroom, but as you can see, we have plenty to look forward to. We cannot wait to share more exciting news and to take you along this journey with us as we #embracetheflats!
