024 was an unforgettable year! From completing memorable projects to hosting amazing showroom events and giving back, it’s been a year to remember. Thank you for being part of these achievements—we’re so grateful to be members of such an incredible community!
Giving Back
This holiday season, we embraced the joy of giving through partnerships with impactful organizations. One of the highlights was volunteering with Best of the Batch’s “Batch a Toys” initiative, where we wrapped Christmas presents for families in need. Reflecting on the experience, Angela Holtzman, Director of Prefabricated Manufactured Construction at Construkt, shared:
"Christmas is my most favorite time of the year... and with little ones at home and knowing what a special time of year it is for them, it is so great being able to help give that experience to others that may not get it if it wasn't for organizations like Best of the Batch! So happy to be able to provide some joy for kids on Christmas!"
We also supported the Light of Life Rescue Mission’s Thanksgiving Basket Outreach by collecting jars of gravy. This initiative helped provide families in need with the ingredients to prepare a warm and comforting holiday meal, spreading care and community during the season of giving.
Additionally, we sponsored three University of Pittsburgh women’s sports teams—softball in the spring and volleyball and soccer in the fall. Through these partnerships, we collaborated with each team to donate to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, AlzTogether, and the Kaitlyn “Moe” Rosensteel Scholarship Foundation. We had a blast supporting these teams while giving back to the community. Pitt Volleyball even had a historic season, taking a #1 seed in the NCAA tournament!
Memorable Moments
In October, we had the privilege of hosting Ryan Anderson, MillerKnoll’s VP of Global Research and Planning, who shared invaluable insights on “Design with Impact” and relationship-based work. Through a series of engaging events, we connected with industry friends and explored MillerKnoll’s latest research, sparking fresh ideas and conversations.
Another highlight was winning DIRTT Experience Center of the Year and Best Project in a Vertical Segment—Education for West Hills Primary School! Being named one of six Platinum Dealers and earning nominations for multiple awards made DIRTT’s Partner Camp a week to remember. Amazing speakers, breakout sessions, and connections with other DIRTT Partners energized us for the future.
International Women’s Day held profound significance for Workscape this year. It was a day to amplify awareness, honor achievements, and rally support for female-focused charities. We hosted our inaugural celebration at our South Side home, selecting the Women's Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh as our non-profit beneficiary. Their unwavering dedication to supporting survivors of domestic violence is truly commendable, and we were humbled to contribute to their noble cause.
Project Installations
2024 saw the continuation of transformative projects that redefine workplace and community spaces. Construction at Pitt’s Hillman Library is entering its final months, with completion expected in early 2025 after nearly four years of renovations. Workscape is proud to have had a hand in revitalizing the space since the project began in 2021. Updates have included revamped third and fourth floors and a transformed ground floor with group study spaces. The final phase is currently underway, and we cannot wait to share more!
We also had the privilege of assisting the RK Mellon Foundation in transitioning from their long-standing office to a new, state-of-the-art space in the iconic Auction House. "This move represented not just a physical relocation but a strategic reimagining of their workplace to align with the foundation's forward-looking vision. The new workspace seamlessly blends modern aesthetics, functionality, and inspiration, embodying the foundation’s mission and values," said Kevin Martz, Vice President, Workscape.
Another standout project involved working with three separate departments in the City of Pittsburgh’s new nine-floor building at 412 Boulevard of the Allies. "Working with three separate departments that each had their own construction teams, as well as different visions of what they wanted the end-product to be, was challenging at times”, explained Mike Passarelli, Project Manager, Construkt. “However, with diligent planning and the ability to listen to, as well as meet, the client expectations, we have provided a sleek, modern workspace to fit each of the three visions into one outstanding building that will meet the city’s needs for years to come."
2024 has been a remarkable journey, and none of it wouldhave been possible without the support of our incredible community. Here’s tocontinuing to make a difference, one project, event, and act of giving at atime!
